As we get closer to back to school time, parents, teachers, and students may want to know what new opportunities are coming for Louisiana schools. In order to get that information to the public, the Louisiana Department of Education and State Superintendent John White will host a public forum in Shreveport to discuss the creation of educational opportunities for students to develop a long-term Louisiana state plan which also aligns with the federal Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA).

All district and school leaders, teachers, parents, business leaders, civic and community leaders, and advocacy groups are encouraged to attend these forums and share their feedback with the Department.

Prior to the forums, a PowerPoint presentation will be posted on the Department's Every Student Succeeds Act webpage.

For questions concerning the ESSA forum, please contact ESSALouisiana@la.gov.

The time and location are:

Wednesday, July 27

Wanda Gunn Prof. Dev. Auditorium
1961 Midway Ave.
Shreveport, LA
