State Education Superintendent John White tells Keel Morning News that our area schools are doing well, but there's still room for improvement.

Dennis Foley and I chatted with White this morning about the recent StudentsFirst report, which ranked Louisiana number one in the nation in pro-student education policies.  But what about our local schools?

"There are some of the best things in our state going on in northwest Louisiana.  I was at Benton Middle a couple of weeks ago in Bossier, honoring those schools in Bossier for making top gains and for doing some fantastic work in special education," White says.

But he also told us there are a few schools in Caddo Parish that are still struggling, and could end up in the Recovery School District.  He says he's working with Superintendent Gerald Dawkins to turn these schools around.
