Don Pierson, Louisiana Economic Development Secretary, talks with 101.7 / 710 KEEL's Robert J Wright and Erin McCarty about the state's economic outlook, specifically attracting businesses to the Shreveport and Bossier City area.

Pierson, in town Friday for a small business summit, not only was one of the the gatherings featured speakers, but told KEEL listeners that he would also meet with entrepreneurs, small business leaders, local leaders and economic development representatives to discuss small business, highlight LED’s small business programs.

Pierson also pointed out that, with the upturn in the American economy and a Gross Domestic Product in excess of 4%, Louisiana finds itself in a unique position to attract new business to the state. This, he said, is due to the state's improving infrastructure - particularly in the northwest part of the state - and a new emphasis on training young workers via community colleges and trade schools.
