For the first time ever, your canine pals will be allowed to go with you to Splash Kingdom Waterpark in Shreveport, during the 'Bark in the Park' Dog Day.

Waterpark spokeswoman Sara Kleinecke said park officials know that we have a very dog-loving community here, and this is something they've been wanting to do for a while now. So they've decided to do it on the final day the park is open for the season.

Sunday, September 18, you and your pooch can visit the waterpark from 2 to 6 p.m. Admission is $18 plus tax per person and each guest can bring up to two dogs. The lazy river, wave pool and activity pool will be a free-for-all for canines and their human parents.

There is something you need to bring with you, though. Make sure you have documentation showing your dog's vaccinations are up-to-date. Tags alone won't serve as verification. South Park Animal Hospital in Shreveport will be assisting with verification and check-in. Guests will have to sign a waiver to participate.

Local dog rescue groups will also be onhand with adoptable animals and plenty of information. Music Mountain Water is even providing a water station for the dogs.

We're told the event will happen rain or shine, unless thunder and lightning become a threat. Looking at the forecast, it seems any chance of rain for Sunday should happen in the morning, so you should be all set for a day of fun in the sun with your furry friends.
