Spiderman Comic Book Sells for $450,000 at Dallas Auction
What a whopper of a price tag. A comic book that features the first appearance of Spider-Man brings in more than $450,000 dollars!
The comic book was sold by a Dallas auction house. An anonymous collector bought the rare comic book. The auction house, Heritage Auctions says this is a record price tag for any Spider-Man comic book.
So why is this one so pricey? It's a 1962 edition of ``Amazing Fantasy'' No. 15 and it was in near-mint condition. For comic book geeks, it got a condition score of 9.4 on a scale of 1-to-10.
Who's the big winner is this 6-figure sale? Walter Yakoboski, of Long Island, New York bought the book in 1980 for $1,200. He told The Associated Press last week that he bought several rare comics as a young man as an investment.
It might be time to start digging in the attic, you think?
