Shreveport Police Chief Ben Raymond talks with 101.7 / 710 KEEL's Robert J Wright and Erin McCarty about the controversy surrounding the recent "New Year's Eve" video and the goal of increased police presence in the city's high crime areas.

"Let me say, first of all, that it is an open investigation, so I don't want to speak in great detail about exactly what occurred. I can tell you that I was made aware of it that night, that there was a video on social media of an arrest downtown that included use of force." Raymond says that after looking at the video, "I can tell you that from my initial review it did not appear that there were any violations."

The video in question was made by Shreveporter Chris Lyon and shows a confrontation between his brother Josh and an SPD officer at the scene of a downtown traffic violation in which the Lyons were not involved.
