Louisiana State Police say a proactive traffic stop on Interstate 12 in Tangipahoa Parish has led to the discovery of about 300 pounds of marijuana.

Troopers stopped an eastbound 2015 Mazda CX-5 for a traffic violation. After speaking to the driver, troopers became suspicious of his behavior. When he refused to let him search his vehicle, the troopers called in a Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office K-9, which alerted on the vehicle. Troopers found the marijuana in the back seat and rear cargo area.

26-year-old Carlos Davis of Greenwood, Mississippi, was arrested and booked into the Tangipohoa Parish jail on a charge of possessing marijuana with intent to distribute.  Investigators say the seized narcotics had a stret value of about $250,000.

But the story doesn't end there. Louisiana State Police detectives coordinated with the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics to make a successful controlled delivery of the marijuana at a residence in Jackson, Mississippi. That led to additional arrests.
