SORRENTO, La. (AP) — Sheriff's deputies were called to the Sorrento Town Hall earlier this week after the mayor and a town councilman got into a verbal match, officials say.

The Advocate reports an Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office incident report shows Mayor Wilson Longanecker felt threatened by Councilman Jason Adams before Tuesday night's Town Council meeting.

The purpose of the meeting was to discuss a potential lawsuit threatened against the Sorrento Police Department.

Police Lt. Rosevelt Hampton and Sgt. Eric Waggenspack responded, according to the report.

No arrests were made, the report shows.
