A sad day for Shreveport and the entire region as a white Chevy Colorado rolled off the General Motors assembly line. It is the last of nearly 5-million vehicles built at the local plant since 1981. The plant closes for good tomorrow. Employees requested that the media not be allowed inside the facility during the final days as the 800 workers deal with this major change in their lives. Some of the workers will stay on for a few weeks to bring the plant off-line. The plant is expected to make what has been described as "one final contribution'' to the local community, but no details have been released.
