A Shreveport man is locked up accused in a domestic violence assault in west  Shreveport.

Here's the news release from police:

At approximately 7:00 a.m. on December 13, 2014, Shreveport Police officers were dispatched to the 4800 block of Westwood Park Drive relative to a Domestic call.  Upon arrival at the scene, officers observed a male suspect on top of a female, physically assaulting her. Authorities were able to detain the suspect, 28 year old Lamarce Dudley, who was suffering from cuts on his upper body and head.  Dudley was transported by the Shreveport Fire Department to University Health Medical Center in the 1500 block of Kings Highway for injuries considered non life-threatening.

Shreveport Police Domestic Abuse investigators were called to the scene of the crime, initiating an investigation into the matter.  Detectives were able to determine Dudley and the victim were in an argument earlier that morning, when Dudley started physically assaulting her . Dudley was able to get the victim to the ground and began to strangle her. The victim's 8 year old son woke up and saw his mother being assaulted.  The adolescent, then grabbed a knife and gave it to his mother, who began to swing the knife at Dudley to get him off of her.  The victim was able to free herself from Dudley and run outside to the front yard, where Dudley caught up with her and continued to assault her. Dudley, after being treated at the hospital, was subsequently transported to Shreveport City Jail where he now faces a charge of domestic abuse battery with strangulation. The victim was not charged in the incident.
