The Shreveport City Council has passed an ordinance making it illegal to solicit money of any kind at street corners.

Charity groups will now have to move their collection efforts into parking lots.

Other businesses, like the Shreveport Times will no longer be able to sell goods to motorists at traffic intersections.

Councilmembers say this is a safety issue. The measure had the support of the Shreveport Police Department.
