Local residents will try again to hold a prayer vigil in downtown Shreveport this weekend. The event was originally set for Friday night, but was canceled Friday about concerns about violnce in light of the recent events in Dallas where 5 police officers were killed in a violent shootout after a protest march.

The event locally is now scheduled for Saturday afternoon at 4 o'clock on the Texas Street side of the Caddo Parish Courthouse.

Organizers are calling for calm and urge residents to keep this event peaceful. Ministers and others have invited all residents from our local community to come out and pray for the victims and family members of deadly police involved shootings and to pray for the Dallas Police officers killed and wounded last week.

The local event is billed as a prayer vigil and not a protest rally or march.
