Shreveport Police detectives are looking for a local man accused of accosting his ex-girlfriend last month.

At approximately 4:31 a.m. on September 6, 2013, Shreveport Police patrol officers responded to an assault and battery call in the 6500 block of Kennedy Drive. When they arrived, they talked to an adult female victim who reported that her ex-boyfriend, identified as 41-year-old Tyrone Puryear, attacked her during an argument and, after striking her multiple times in the face with a closed fist, ultimately choked her almost to the point of unconsciousness. The victim suffered visible injuries and was treated at the scene by paramedics with the Shreveport Fire Department. Responding patrolmen were unable to locate the suspect, who apparently fled the scene of the crime prior to their arrival.

Investigators with the police department’s Domestic Violence Unit were assigned the case and, based on information and evidence gathered during their inquiry, obtained an arrest warrant charging Puryear, of the 3000 block of Amherst Street in Shreveport, with one count of second-degree battery. His bond has been set at $25,000. Anyone with any information on where Puryear might be is urged to call Shreveport Police detectives at 318-673-6955 or Shreveport-Caddo Parish Crime Stoppers at 318-673-7373.
