A Shreveport police officer shot a suspected armed robber in north Shreveport.

The man was trying to rob a woman at a North Shreveport ATM when he was shot by a Shreveport police officer. It happened just after 11:30 p.m., when the woman called police to report that 4 men with possible guns had approached her at the Regions Bank branch on North Market.

She was able to drive away, and the suspects fled toward the Villa Norte Apartments on Fullerton.

Police responded and spotted a potential suspect inside the apartment complex. SPD Cpl. Marcus Hines says one of the officers opened fire, striking the suspect in the forearm.

The suspect was taken to University Health. He has not been identified.
