The second of two Shreveport police officers most recently placed on administrative leave has been arrested.

Bernice Lefeat was hired by the department in February 2009. He was placed on paid leave June 1 following allegations of policy violations. Since an internal investigation was launched, evidence has led detectives to get warrants for Lefeat's arrest.

Lefeat is charged with one count each of possessing a Schedule II drug, malfeasance in office and possessing a legend drug without a prescription, as well as two counts of theft of a firearm.

The officer was taken into police custody Tuesday afternoon at his Keithville home. He's been booked into Caddo Correctional Center, and remains on administrative leave.

Lefeat is the second officer to be arrested in the past week. Jailer Alfredo Lofton was charged with first-offense DWI after being involved in a one-car crash on I-20 at Spring Street.
