Shreveport police are investigating a shooting at the Chevron station on East 70th Street near Dixie Garden.

Police believe the shooting began as an armed robbery. The suspect pulled a gun and demanded money from the cashier. According to police, he then shot the cashier once in the lower abdomen. The cashier was transported to LSU Health with non life threatening injuries.

A family friend of the victim tells KTBS "He's good right now, and we're hoping it stays that way. You don't really know what's going to happen, so we're just going to take it by ear and hope for the best that's for sure."

One customer in the store was forced to get on the ground, but was not hurt.

Police say the suspect was wearing a dark colored hoodie with a white mask.

Anyone with info about this crime is urged to contact Shreveport police.
