Detectives are seeking leads in their investigation into the burglary of a marked Shreveport police cruiser.

The car was apparently broken into today between the hours of midnight and 10:50AM. Police learned of the burglary shortly before 11 this morning, when officers were called to an apartment complex in the 7000 block of Red Fox Trail. It was reported that a concerned citizen located what appeared to be a police gun belt stashed in a nearby trash bin.

Officers learned the belt had been stolen from a 2006 Chevy Impala, which had been parked by an off-duty patrolman at the Ashton Pines apartments in the 6000 block of West 70th Street.

Items stolen from the car were a Paca brand ballistic vest with the carrier, the officer's department-issued .40 caliber, semi-automatic Glock pistol, three magazines of ammunition, the officer's police badge, an X-26 Taser and a flashlight.

The burglar forced entry into the car, using a tood to bypass the door locks. Investigators ask anyone with information about the crime to call Crime Stoppers at 318-673-7373 or submit a tip online.
