Former Shreveport Mayor Keith Hightower won't run for mayor. Ollie Tyler has opened her campaign headquarters.

In an open letter to residents published in the Shreveport Times,, Hightower writes: "over the past few months I have been repeatedly encouraged to enter the upcoming mayor’s race. Due to that encouragement, I felt obligated to make a good faitheffort to determine whether or not I should run."

"I am proud of the accomplishments we made during my eight years in office which included: designation as an All America City, development of Riverview Park, construction of the Convention Center."

His decision: "After careful and prayerful consideration, I have decided that I can best be of service through my willingness to assist whoever is elected our next mayor."

Hightower will be our guest on 710 KEEL Monday morning in the 8am hour.

Meantime, Ollie Tyler has opened her campaign Headquarters in downtown Shreveport. She's planning to qualify for the race Wednesday morning.
