Shreveport Mayor Cedric Glover has commented on this morning's deadly shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn.

Glover took to his personal Twitter account, where he's fairly active, and asked the following hard question to his followers:

Early Friday morning, 20-year-old Adam Lanza entered Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn. with pistols and a rifle and opened fire, killing 26 people. Of the dead, 20 were children.

Lanza also murdered his mother Nancy in her Connecticut home prior to his shooting rampage. The gunman later took his own life.

President Barack Obama held a press conference today and offered his condolences to the victims' families, saying that more must be done to prevent future tragedies.

"As a country, we have been through this too many times," said President Obama. "Whether it’s an elementary school in Newtown, or a shopping mall in Oregon, or a temple in Wisconsin, or a movie theater in Aurora, or a street corner in Chicago — these neighborhoods are our neighborhoods, and these children are our children.  And we’re going to have to come together and take meaningful action to prevent more tragedies like this, regardless of the politics."
