Police are searching for the suspect who shot and killed a local man after an overnight dispute.

Officers were called to the Moonrider Inn in the 5200 block of Monkhouse to reports of shots fired. When they arrived, they found out that 31-year-old Alexander James had been shot several times in the upper body outside a hotel room. He was taken to University Health, where he was pronounced dead.

Evidence gathered by Violent Crimes Detectives suggests James and a suspect he knew got into a dispute, when the suspect pulled a weapon and fired multiple shots, which struck James multiple times. The suspect fled in an unknown direction.

Detectives are working to identify and catch the shooter. Anyone with information that can help is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 318-673-7373.
