Shreveport Man Convicted of Manslaughter

A Caddo Parish jury deliberated just under an hour before convicting 22-year-old Deangilo White for the June, 2009, shooting death of Kevin Powell.
That shooting occurred after a fight outside a residence in the 700 block of Bringhurst. Prosecutors had been seeking a second-degree murder conviction but jurors, instead, found White guilty of manslaughter at the conclusion of his one-day trial. District Court Judge Craig Marcotte has ordered White to return to court March 12th for sentencing. He could get up to 40 years in prison.
