A Shreveport man has been arrested by detectives and charged with filing a false police report.

It stems from an incident that happened back on the evening of November 3rd, when 24-year-old Xavier Anderson showed up at University Health for treatment of a gunshot wound to his left hand.

Initially, Anderson told investigators that he was walking on Hearne Avenue when a man approached him, pulled a handgun, and attempted to rob him.  Anderson said he grabbed the gun and it went off, striking him in the hand.  Then, he said, the suspect took off running.

However, after more investigating, detectives determined that Anderson had accidentally shot himself in the hand and then made up the story about the robbery attempt.  So they arrested him this morning and booked him into the Shreveport City Jail on a charge of criminal mischief.
