A Shreveport man's been arrested for selling counterfeit DVDs and CDs.

Caddo detectives say 57-year-old Howard Williams cheated the motion picture and recording industries out of thousands of dollars.  Shreveport police caught Williams with more than 2400 bootleg CDs and DVDs back in March when they responded to a report that he'd been robbed while selling his merchandise on the street.

Over the next several weeks, Caddo Detective Doug Smith worked with representatives of the Motion Picture Association of America and the Recording Industry Association of America to verify that the DVDs and CDs were counterfeit.  They were.  Smith figures Williams has cheated the movie and recording industries out of more than $19,000.
