Shreveport Kids Lucky to Be OK After Being Swept Away by High Water

A day of play nearly turned tragic for five children playing in a drainage ditch in south Shreveport.

It happened in the Southern Hills neighborhood yesterday during the heavy rains.

The kids were in a ditch on Alicia Lane. At the time, the water was ankle deep, but it started to rise. Three of the kids were swept away. The other two got out and ran for help. When emergency crews got to the scene, the three children had already gotten out of the water. All of the children are OK.
