The original goal of Shreveport Diabetes Golf was to raise $10,000 a year to benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund. Well, that was four years and over a quarter of a million dollars ago. Monday at East Ridge Country Club, this year's event, now the Golf and Tennis Classic, expects to raise another $70,000.

"Thanks to the generosity of local donors, this year's golf and tennis events are sold out," says board member Joe Sterkx. "But everyone is still invited to Monday night's prime rib buffet and auction (tickets $50 and also at East Ridge)."

Board member Robbie Gaiennie adds, "Juvenile diabetes is an incurable disease that requires constant monitoring. The money we raise stays her at home and goes, not only to treatment, but education."

In addition to Monday's golf / tennis fundraiser and dinner / auction, anyone wishing to donate can help online at shreveportdiabetesgolf.com.
