Shreveport City Councilwoman Stephanie Lynch tells 101.7 / 710 KEEL's Robert J Wright and Erin McCarty that she is surprised that the controversy surrounding Police Chief Alan Crump "is still a story." The Chief, who fired his weapon while in pursuit of two burglary suspects, is on administrative leave with pay while the incident is being investigated.

Lynch says criticism of the chief by some council members is "paradoxical...when he's not been on the job quite a year." The Councilwoman also disagrees with Councilman Jerry Bowman who said that the city's increasing crime rate would be the number one issue in next year's mayoral contest. Lynch insists it will be the economy and "jobs that will pay a decent wage."
