Louisiana State Police have arrested a local casino employee after he was caught defrauding Sam's Town.

The LSP's Gaming Enforcement Division was contacted by the casino after it was discovered that 45-year-old Frank Leeper of Haughton was creating fraudulent credit payouts in an effort to defraud the casino. At the time, Leeper was employed as the director of slots.

Troopers investigated and found out Leeper stole over $3,000 from the casino on at least three separate occasions. They issued a warrant for Leeper's arrest.

Investigators questioned Leeper when he arrived at work today, and he confessed to stealing the money. He was booked into Caddo Correctional Center on a felony theft charge.

Troopers say the casino cooperated fully with the investigation and no patrons were defrauded as a result of Leeper's actions. The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are possible.

"This arrest by Gaming Enforcement Troopers is believed to be the first arrest of a "key employee" within the gaming industry hierarchy in the state Louisiana," said Col. Mike Edmonson in a news release. "The trust that the public places in us to ensure a fair gaming experience is not something we take lightly.

Troopers work diligently day and night to protect the public interest and ensure the integrity of gaming in Louisiana. This is accomplished through a multi-disciplined regulatory approach using proven best practices to prevent this type of activity."
