Shreveport-Bossier drivers can expect roller coaster gasoline prices over the next few weeks.

AAA Fuel Analyst Don Redman told the Louisiana Radio Network that this is all due to the changing of fuel blends.

"Right now, they have the winter blend of gasoline," said Redman.  "We've seen demand down because of winter storms.  You might actually see a case where you see prices below $3 a gallon."

That decrease is due to retailers trying to get rid of old supply to make room for the summer blend fuels.  However, prices will swing back up when the transition begins.

"We should brace ourselves for a minimum of a 50 cent increase as we get into the spring, but that is if everything goes well," cautioned Redman.

Today, the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline is $3.10.  That's about the same as last week and two cents less than last month.

In Texarkana, Arkansas, the average price is $3.10, the same as last week and four cents less than last month.  The Texas-side average price today is $3.11, a penny more than last week and four cents less than a month ago.
