The tourism industry remained a very strong industry for Shreveport-Bossier in 2010. The most recent Smith Travel Research Report indicates the sister cities led all other Louisiana cities in hotel occupancy for the second consecutive year.

“I brag all the time about Shreveport-Bossier,” said Judy Randall, owner of Randall Travel Marketing, a South Carolina-based research firm. “You guys are doing extremely well compared to most other destinations across the nation.”

Randall has conducted several research projects for the bureau and will be working on a 2011 Hotel/Lodging Study and an audit of area attractions.

However, from January to December 2010, the Shreveport MSA occupancy was 73.8 percent compared to the state average of 60.9. New Orleans occupancy was 64.7 percent, Quachita Parish, 63.8, and Louisiana North 60.6.
