Yesterday we found out in a national survey that Shreveport is on the USA's 10 Most Miserable Cities list. This on the same day we - in that oh, so miserable city - gave $1.2 million of our hard earned dollars on Give For Good Day. (So much for their credibility; donating over $1 million in 24 hours is not something 'miserable' people do.)

In another just released list, we find out that Shreveport and Bossier City are among the 10 safest places to live in the state.

Personally, I feel pretty safe in both, but to place New Orleans ahead of Shreveport on the list? Well, I'm not so sure about that one.

According to federal statistics, crime is 46 percent higher than the national average. Nonetheless, out of the state's ten largest cities, these are the safest:

10) Monroe

9) Alexandria

8) Baton Rouge

7) Lafayette

6) Shreveport

5) New Orleans

4) Lake Charles

3) Bossier City

2) Kenner

1) Metarie
