Governor Bobby Jindal's tax reform plan will increase sales taxes, cigarette taxes, and introduce new sales taxes to some services.  All to eliminate income and franchise taxes.

While it may be a good idea, there will be some people who will benefit and those who will be hurt by the move.  Governor Jindal noted that states that have improved economies had no state income taxes (one of those states is neighboring Texas).

The governor wants to make Louisiana more competitive for businesses.  Right now, the Pelican State has one of the lowest tax burdens in America, lower than Texas.  However, it ranks mid-pack in business friendliness.
