Shooting on Gaywood Leaves Police Searching for More Information
A fight between two men in west Shreveport ends with one of them firing shots at the other. Just before 1:15 this morning, Shreveport patrol officers were told by LSU Hospital officials that a man had shown up in their emergency room with an injury to his neck that he claimed was a bullet wound. After talking with hospital personnel, officers discovered that 24-year-old Mark Hill had not been shot at all. According to his statement, he was approached in the 3000 block of Gaywood Street by a man he knew, who asked him for money. When Hill refused, the man allegedly pulled a handgun and fired shots at him. The shots hit Hill’s vehicle as he was driving away — and glass fragments apparently struck Hill in the neck. Officers did find shell casings on Gaywood. They’re working now to positively identify the man who fired the shots — and determine exactly what happened.
