UPDATED:  Lakeia Rawls, the victim in Friday's shooting in the 3800 block of Conway Street, died of her woulnd this morning at LSU Hospital in Shreveport.  Charges against Danny Battle will be upgraded from attempted manslaughter to second-degree murder, along with being a felon in possession of a firearm.

A local woman is fighting for her life following an afternoon shooting in west Shreveport.  Police arrived at a home in the 3800 block of Conway Street to find that 26-year-old Lakeia Rawls had been shot in the head. She was taken to LSU Hospital with a life-threatening wound.  A man in the home, later identified as 33-year-old Danny Battle, was taken in for questioning. Based on information detectives gathered during interviews and evidence collected at the scene, they believe Battle and Rawls, who had been romantically involved, got caught up in some type of dispute at the home they shared and during the argument, Battle grabbed a gun and fired a single shot. 

Battle has been charged with one count each of attempted manslaughter and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
