[CORRECTION]

The shooting happened in a parking lot in the 1100 block of Kings Highway, near Mall St. Vincent...not at the Youree Drive McDonald's.  Thanks to Shreveport Police Sgt. Bill Goodin for getting that corrected information to us.  He also says police did stop a vehicle matching the description of one seen in the area at the time of the shooting, but no one's been charged.  We'll bring you more details as we get them.

[ORIGINAL STORY]

There was a shooting last night at the Youree Drive McDonald's, and there's some speculation that it may have involved students from Byrd and Captain Shreve High Schools.  But Shreveport Police Corporal Marcus Hines tells KEEL News that hasn't been confirmed yet.

Hines says officers arrived at the fast food restaurant shortly before 10 o'clock last night after hearing gunshots.  They found shell casings in the parking lot, but no suspects.  He says the shooting may have stemmed from a fight between two groups of males.  Police are working to get surveillance video from the business, which they hope will help in their investigation.

Our own Erin McCarty talked with Byrd Principal Jerry Badgley, who says rumors of a Byrd-Shreve fight circulate several times a year.  The two teams faced off in a basketball game last night.  But Badgley says the crowd was as well-behaved as any he's ever seen. He says there was heavy security at the game, and there were no problems reported.
