It's been a big day for murder cases in Caddo District Court. Judge Mike Pittman saw three of those in his courtroom this morning. 24-year-old Christopher Brian Cope, for arguments and hearings on a first-degree murder charge -- and one count of attempted second-degree murder. Cope is accused of the October 2010 shooting death of Shreveport Police Sgt. Tim Prunty in the parking lot of a convenience store in the 3300 block of Bert Kouns. He's also accused of shooting into a guard shack at the entrance to Southern Trace.

19-year-old Paul Anthony Jones, for further proceedings on a first-degree murder charge. He's charged for his part in the April 2009 shooting death of Terrell Savore. Investigators say Savore was killed when shots were fired into a large crowd in the 1900 block of Patzman.

44-year-old James Mason, Jr., for further proceedings on a second-degree murder charge -- for the November 2007 shooting death of LaTorisha Wiley. Investigators say Mason took part in a drive-by shooting incident at Ledbetter and Hickory.

This afternoon, in Judge Ramona Emanuel's courtroom, Lamondre Tucker is scheduled to be sentenced for first-degree murder. He was found guilty in March by a Caddo Parish jury of murdering his pregnant girlfriend, Tavia Sills, in September 2008. The jury has recommended the death penalty.
