We pause today to remember the long life of Fred Moffitt.

Moffitt was the founder of Moffitt Volkswagen/Mazda in Bossier City. He served in World War II in the Navy in the Pacific Theater on the USS Otus. He was honorably discharged from the Navy in 1946.

Mr. Fred did so much for our community, serving on the boards of several organizations through the years. He was not only generous with his time. He also donated new cars to several charity groups.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to his children:

Susan Geralyn Moffitt Henson and husband Michael of Bossier City. Mary Anne Moffitt Green and husband Kim of Shreveport, Michael Fredrick Moffitt of Shreveport, and John Patrick Moffitt and wife Sarah of Shreveport.

A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Fred's life will be held today at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church 211 Atlantic Avenue in Shreveport. Officiating will be Monsignor Earl Provenza. Interment will follow at Forest Park St. Vincent Avenue.

The family suggests memorials may be made to LSU Health Foundation 920 Pierremont Road Suite 506 Shreveport Louisiana 71106 Shriners Hospital for Children 3100 Samford Avenue Shreveport Louisiana 71103 or the charity of the donorâs choice.
