State Senator Greg Tarver tells 101.7 / 710 KEEL's Robert J Wright and
Erin McCarty that he is cautiously optimistic a potential deal between Ochsner Health System, Biomedical Research Foundation and Shreveport's University Health Hospital.

Tarver tells KEEL listeners that Shreveport's charity hospital is, in fact, in dire economic straits, but it is important that any agreement between BRF and another management partner must maintain the hospital's independence.

The Senator also criticizes Shreveport State Representative Cedric Glover, saying the former mayor "doesn't understand the state budget." Glover steadfastly maintains that University Health is substantially underfunded and that primarily accounts for the hospital's economic troubles.
