The movie, 'Selma', which chronicles Rev. Martin Luther King's campaign to secure voting rights for blacks via a march from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama in the spring of 1965, opened recently to both critical praise and criticism.

The film, with producers including Oprah Winfrey and Brad Pitt, has been hailed for recreating the tension and division of the time and, at the same time, capturing King's bravery and inspirational leadership.

Critics claim, meanwhile, that the depiction of then President Lyndon Johnson as opposing King and the movement is a misrepresentation of historical fact.

'Selma', which stars David Oyelowo and Carmen Ejogo, is currently playing locally at Cinemark Tinseltown in Shreveport and Regal Louisiana Boardwalk in Bossier City.
