UPDATE: School Placed on Lockdown During Search for Gunman

UPDATE: A suspect has been charged with this morning's shooting in the 7100 block of Jewella Avenue.

Shreveport police say they located 17-year-old Joshua Luckey at an apartment at the Villa Marquis Two in the 7400 block of Jewella and charged him with one count of aggravated battery. He's been booked into the Shreveport city Jail.

The victim, identified as 25-year-old Justin Fields, was taken to University Health with non-life-threatening wounds.

[ORIGINAL STORY]  Westwood Elementary School in Shreveport was on lockdown for a little while this morning while police searched for a gunman.

Police spokesman Breck Scott tells KEEL News at around 9:40 a.m., a man was shot in the leg at Villa Marquis I Apartments in the 7100 block of Jewella. The gunman was seen running toward the school after the shooting.

Scott says officers searched the area near the school, then received a tip that the gunman ran in another direction. The school's students and staff were in no danger during the incident.

Police continue to search for the suspect. We'll have more information on this developing story as it becomes available.
