Former Shreveport Police Detective Rod Demery, now the star of the Investigation Discovery channel's "Murder Chose Me" television series, has endorsed fellow Republican Lee. O. Savage to be the next mayor of the city.

Here is the text of the official Demery endorsement:

Over the past week rumors have flared that I was again considering entering the Shreveport Mayoral race. During this time, I have received an outpouring of support from both friends and strangers alike. I am humbled. However, I would like to take a moment to dispel those rumors and make it very clear that I will not be entering the 2018 race for Shreveport Mayor. Prior to my last announcement, I decided not to run after substantial prayer and reflection. Ultimately, my family and I decided that now would not be an appropriate time run for mayor. Therefore, my decision is now as it was then: not run for mayor.

It is time that we as a city; embrace new policies and new leadership. I believe that in the current field of candidates there is an agent of change that can take on the challenges and bring new policies and leadership to Shreveport. That agent of change is Lee O. Savage. I fully and whole heartedly endorse Lee O. Savage’s candidacy for mayor, and I encourage that my fellow Shreveporters do the same. With our combined support from all neighborhoods of the city we can make change happen and can reverse the years long deterioration of Shreveport. With new policies for fighting crime, and growing our economy; we can make Shreveport the city it was always destined to be. We are a city with great resources, a great culture, and most importantly a strong people. Join me now in supporting Lee O Savage for Mayor!

For Shreveport,

Rod
