I had the distinct pleasure, Saturday evening, of inducting Robert Mizzell into the Greater Shreveport Walk of Stars.  For those of you who don't know, or know about, Robert -- he was born in Shreveport.  The early years of his life were spent in an abusive family environment until he was taken in by foster parents.  In all, Dayton "Blackie" and Regina "Mama" Courtney fostered 32 children -- including Robert -- and helped shape him into the man he is today.  After graduating from Doyline High School, Robert went on to serve a brief term in the US Army.  Then, after a series of odd jobs, he found himself in New England where he met his future wife, Elaine, and moved with her to her home in Ireland.  There, he fathered a daughter, Adelle, before his marriage fell apart.  But he raised Adelle and she is now a beautiful 18-year-old woman.  At the same time, Robert also set out to achieve his life-long dream of becoming a country music entertainer.  And he has done that, hands down.  He's now one of the most popular country music entertainers in Ireland and throughout Europe and is the recipient of several European Country Music Association (ECMA) awards.  But he's also one of, if not THE strongest ambassadors we have for Shreveport across the pond.  And it's for that reason that we chose to induct him into the Walk of Stars.

I've posted video of his induction on Youtube.  However, because of the length of the induction ceremony, I had to cut it into three pieces and my Flip Cam ran out of storage space before Robert finished his comments.  You can see the whole induction ceremony -- chopped up into three pieces -- by going to:
