Shreveport Police are investigating an attempted robbery at MJ's Catering on Hollywood Avenue. According to police, the store owner encountered multiple men attempting to break into his vehicle.During the encounter, the owner shot one of the suspects in the head while the other men fled the scene.

A short time later, officers exchanged gun fire with what is believed to be another suspect in the robbery. That person was taken into custody without injury. It is also being reported that one of the officers involved in the gun fight was Shreveport Police Chief Alan Crump.

Corporal Marcus Hines from SPD wouldn't confirm whether or not the shots came from Chief Crump's service weapon. He would only tell KTBS that their is a strict protocol followed every time an officer discharges their service weapon regardless of their rank and said the information would be made public once the investigation is complete.

 

It is believed that there is at least one more suspect who is still be on the run.
