Republican state lawmaker Paul Hollis announced on Monday (6-14) that he's dropped out of Louisiana's US Senate race. Bill Cassidy and Rob Maness are the two primary republican challengers to democratic incumbent Mary Landrieu.

"After prayer and thoughtful consideration, I have decided to withdraw from the U.S. Senate race in Louisiana," Hollis said in a statement.  "I am thankful for the outpouring of support from voters throughout the state and truly appreciate the tireless efforts of our campaign's staff and volunteers."

According to Real Clear Politics In the most likely run-off between Landrieu and Cassidy, voters are split evenly with both picking up 47%.

Landrieu, whose approval rating is also negative (42% approval/52% disapproval), trails Cassidy among independents by a 13-point margin (38/51).  Landrieu leads among women (50/42) and younger voters by a large margin (61/29). Obama’s approval rating does not help her at all, as only 39% approve of his performance to 56% who disapprove.
