State Representative Larry Bagley of Logansport talks with 101.7 / 710 KEEL's Robert J Wright and Erin McCarty about the House Appropriations Committee budget, which calls for major cuts to the state's public-private partnership hospitals, higher education and more.

Bagley, who is a member of the House Appropriations Committee, says he will vote against the budget when it moves to the floor of the House of Representatives. "I've only got one vote," says Bagley, "I wish I had fifty. I'm going to vote to kill it." Referring to cuts in the budget made to Louisiana's public-private partnership hospitals, including Shreveport's University Health, he says, "I can't pass a budget that basically kills the hospitals and the medical school." Bagley adds, "We might fix it later on, but I can't take that chance."

When asked what it's like being the only north Louisiana legislator on the twenty eight member Appropriations Committee, Bagley quipped, "It's not (an) uphill (fight), it's a cliff."
