Public Boat Ramps Closed Due to High Water

High water has temporarily closed the public boat launching ramps on the Red River that are operated by the Red River Waterway Commission in Caddo and Bossier Parishes. However, the river itself is not closed to boat traffic and many private launches are still operating. The Commission says the Bishop Point boat ramp, off Highway 1 near Lock and Dam 5 will remain open to the public for now, but fluctuating river levels may result in its possible closure, too. In a news release, the Commission says the public launches will be re-opened as soon as conditions permit the public to utilize them safely.
