Portion of Hwy-538 to Close

A heavily-traveled highway just north of Shreveport will soon be closed — but not permanently. If you normally travel Louisiana Highway 538 — Old Mooringsport Road — you’ll soon have to take a detour. Starting Monday, November 14th, Old Mooringsport Road is going to be closed to all through-traffic between US Highway 71 and Louisiana Highway1. And it’s going to stay closed for more than a year — about fourteen months. The reason for that closure?? — It’s associated with the construction of Interstate-49 north! While it’s closed, there will be plenty of detour signs posted on both Highway 1 and Highway 71. Again, that closure of 538 is scheduled to start on the fourteenth.
