Shreveport Police Officers Association President Michael Carter tells 101.7 / 710 KEEL's Robert J Wright and Erin McCarty that he is adamantly against the city borrowing $30 million to pay for a new sports arena, when, as Carter says, "we are in a public safety crisis."

Carter tells KEEL listeners that Shreveport officers haven't gotten a raise from the city since January of 2003. He adds that, commenting on Councilwoman Stephanie Lynch's remarks that the "deal is done" on the proposed $130 million sports arena, "My experience with city government, that's probably a factual statement."
