[UPDATE]  Six-year-old Matthew Monie has been located unharmed in east Texas.

Over the weekend, investigators were contacted by Upshur County Sheriff’s officials who said they’d arrested a man sought in Monie’s disappearance.  The boy’s father, 45-year-old Matthew Monie, was arrested at a home located in Ore City.  The child was uninjured and was turned over to child welfare officials.

Mr. Monie is charged on an outstanding warrant for interfering with the custody of a child.  He’ll be extradited back to Shreveport to face charges.  Detectives say much investigation remains to be done in the case.

[ORIGINAL STORY]  Shreveport police are searching for a child who’s been missing since Friday afternoon. Police say 6-year-old Matthew Edwin Monie has not been seen since 4 p.m., when he was playing in the front yard of a home in the 9000 block of Lone Oak Drive in west Shreveport. They searched the area, but were unable to locate the boy.

He’s a white male with brown hair and brown eyes, about 3’5″ tall and 46 pounds. He was last seen wearing his school uniform, khaki pants and a red Polo-style shirt. He was also wearing blue and yellow tennis shoes.

Anyone with information on where Matthew might be is asked to call Shreveport-Caddo Crime Stoppers at 673-7373 or visit the CS website.
