Police Search For Missing Service Dog After Burglary

Shreveport Police detectives are searching for a missing service animal that was taken during a residential burglary Monday.

It all happened in the 3200 block of Penick Street in West Shreveport. Police responed to a burglary call at the home just after 12:00 p.m. on Monday. Upon arrival, the police interviewed the owned and learned that between the hours of 1:00 p.m. the previous day and 7:00 a.m. Monday morning, the house was forcibly entered and possessions were taken.

A press release from SPD Spokesman Cpl. Marcus Hines describes the service animal:

Discovered among the missing items, was the home owner's service dog. The dog, named "Major", is a specially trained Rottweiler, trained to understand sign language. "Major" bares all the markings of a traditional Rottweiler; however he has a distinctive long tail and bares a white patch in his chest, making him relatively easy to spot.
