Police Investigating Woman Killed In Highland

A woman was shot and killed in Shreveport’s Highland neighborhood last night and authorities are working at this hour to identify and apprehend the person responsible for her death.
At approximately 10:40 p.m. on July 20, 2012, Shreveport Police patrol officers were dispatched to a home in the 300 block of Boulevard Street relative to a shooting. Upon arrival, patrolmen discovered an adult female victim suffering from at least one gunshot wound to the upper body. She was subsequently transported to LSUHSC by the Shreveport Fire Department where she was later pronounced deceased. The victim’s name is not being released immediately pending official notification of her family.
Detectives responded to the scene of the crime and, upon further investigation, learned the victim and a man reported to be her husband arrived at a residence there on Boulevard Street to find a known male suspect standing in the driveway. According to preliminary information gathered by investigators, the woman’s husband and this male suspect engaged in a physical confrontation during which the suspect pulled out a handgun and fired at least one shot, striking the victim. The gunman then fled in a vehicle.
At this time authorities are following up on witness statements and evidence recovered at the scene in an ongoing effort to positively identify the killer and they are asking anyone with any information regarding this homicide to contact Shreveport-Caddo Parish Crime Stoppers at 318-673-7373 or www.lockemup.org
